Top Ten Tuesday-My Top Picks for a Handmade Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is on it's way and people are dividing into two camps-Pro-Valentine's Day & Anti-Valentine's Day as a former member of the Anti-Valentine's Day camp I feel that both parties should have their needs addressed. This week's Top Ten Tuesday is dedicated to the Pro-Valentiners and all the lovely, fuzzy, fluffy, pink and red goodness that that entails. But I promise not to abandon the Anti-Valentiners among you so next week's Top Ten Tuesday will be dedicated to Anti-Valentine's Day Gifts. In keeping with tradition all of my beauteous, handmade and vintage Valentine's Day picks originate from Etsy and I will be linking the photos to their corresponding shop and shop owners so you can go partake in some unbelievably fabulous handcrafted & vintage shopping. Know of a fabulous shop owner (perhaps even yourself?) who needs to represented here? Put a link in the comment section below or email me at info@theadornedarticle.com -my favorites will be written up in a follow up post.
Happy Shopping Dolls. XO-S

Internet Strike Today

Today thousands of sites will go dark to protest SOPA and PIPA. The Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate and The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House of Representatives — grants copyright owners unprecedented power to block or shut down websites entirely for copyright infringements that are already being successfully addressed via existing laws. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is planning to proceed with a vote on PIPA in the Senate on January 24.
I’d like to ask every one of you-if you haven’t already to get involved and speak out against these two bills. Many Etsy sellers depend on Etsy for their livelihoods this is too important for us to remain silent. Please go here to: The Protect Innovation website and send a letter to Congress. Watch the video below from http://fightforthefuture.org/pipa for more info

Top Three Tuesday: Top 3 Reasons You Shouldn't Get Any Work Done Today

Some days you just need to not get any work done-but you have to have a credible excuse ready or people will think you’re just being lazy. I totally understand-and in the interests of being an AWESOME friend to you I have prepared some excuses for you to use in the event that someone has the audacity to question your lack of productivity today. I’ve laid them out in no particular order - please feel free to embellish as needed.

Excuse No. 1 : I’m catching up on my reading…Reading is absolutely crucial if you want to sound important and smart-and when exactly are you supposed to get this reading done? Over the weekend when you should be out going to fabulous parties all night? No I don’t think so-you have make time for these things during the work week.

Excuse No. 2: I’m bird watching…This is not as far fetched as you might think. The fact of the matter is that you're most likely on the verge of discovering an exotic unknown species of bird-this is VERY important work. These birds are not going to wait around until you finish that report for your boss-you need to work around their schedule.

Excuse No. 3 :  I’m making coffee art…And let’s face it-your work is devastatingly beautiful it belongs in a museum. Anyone who can’t see the value in that has no decency.

There you have it my darlings. Go forth and procrastinate with confidence. XO-S

Free Jewelry Making Tutorial: Waxed Irish Linen Wish Bracelet

I sell these cute little thread bracelets on my website TheAdornedArticle.com and I've gotten a lot of requests from customers wanting to know how to make them. Waxed Linen Jewelry is simple and elegant-perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike.

The best part about the Wish Bracelet is (in my opinion) the sliding macrame knot closure-it makes the bracelet super easy to adjust and will keep it nice and snug on your wrist. Once you get the hang of this you can create all sorts of variations using different charms and beads. I'd love to see what you come up with so send me photos and I'll do a post on my favorites. Let me know if you have any questions or need clarification on anything. If you would like to use this tutorial on your blog-feel free just please remember to mention where it came from and link back to me.
